if by some chance you don't happen to know who these ridiculously happy people are, you must have been living under a rock recently.
total side note, but that geiko or allstate commercial about living under a rock- hysterical!
any whoo- the royal wedding. you can say i'm a bit obsessed... my boss is just as in love with them as i am, and we spend a large majority of the day discussing the dress, the location, the royal family and of course william and kate. we got the "biography" about them last week and i immediately read the entire thing. what a scandalous royal family england has!

but besides being an almost princess and the future queen of england, kate middleton is gorgeous. she has a timeless and classic sense of style that leaves me wanting to run out and buy anything that i see her wearing. she always looks beautiful and polished and never has 'bitch' face. good job william- even though it took you 11 years to finally put a ring on it, job well done.

i'm a girl who grew up watching disney movies, convinced that my prince charming was waiting for me somewhere. we'd meet in some adorable way (that we would love telling our future children and grandchildren), fall madly in love and live happily ever after. ask any of my friends and they'll tell you that i'm that girl that's obsessed with weddings and falling in love. well, the plan hasn't worked out the way that i always thought it would. prince charming hasn't made himself known and i'm still waiting for my happily ever after. now mind you, i'm only 21- i do have some time. so when i saw this perusing the interweb one day, it hit pretty close to home, so i saved it on my computer and didn't think anything of it.

cut to my modern era film studies class today. one of my friends in that class that girl if they weren't so nice, you'd hate them. she always looks cute, organized and on her A-game, super sweet... ya know, the girl everyone wants to be? well we were talking about her and her boyfriend, how lucky she is to have found such a great guy and that it all happened when she stopped looking. instantly thought of this picture and hello light bulb moment- perfect blog post.

so that's my advice to you and to myself. have fun, go on dates, meet people, fall in love, get hurt and stop looking for the 'one'. he'll come around soon enough, probably right when you stop looking so hard.

happy things

just some random things that have made me happy over the past few days :)

-finding my marc jacobs necklace- two of my best friends have the same one and i thought that i lost it. but luckily i found it in the pocket of one of my hoodies. yay!
-having a perfect curls hair day. my hair pretty much has ADD and does whatever it wants to do depending on the day. i happened to shower and end up with perfect banana curls. boo yaa

-geek out moments. sometimes you just need to laugh uncontrollably, even if it means making a lovely face like this one.

-my yearly girls weekend. my mom (right) and her best friend (left) have been best friends since they were kids. her daughter has been my best friend since before she was born and every year the four of us go away for the weekend to a resort from our childhood.

-my roommate nikki FINALLY wearing that hat. we bought it in september (i think) and she's never worn it due to lack of outfit inspiration. the other night we went out and she was wearing the outfit (without the hat) and i realized that it was the perfect outfit to wear it with. it was quite a hit while we were out

-impromptu photo shoots. i always carry my camera with me, but i hate taking it out and feeling like a tourist in my own city. but normally there are certain times that i'll forgo feeling stupid and snap some pics. boston is an amazing city for photography. the mix of old vs. new (big modern buildings mixed with some of the oldest buildings in the country- hello!) is one of my favorite things.

ain't nothin' but a spring break babay

let's all come together and have a huge sigh of relief.
ahhh.
feel better? good :)

after what seemed like the longest week in history (isn't the week before spring break ALWAYS like that?!), it's finally friday, which means it's finally spring break!
instead of jet setting off to europe like i should be doing; instead i'm still in boston, sitting in my apartment trying not to feel gloomy even with all this rain.

thanks  WeHeartIt
what i should be doing is riding vespas around greece, galavanting with gorgeous dark haired men named nikolas and swimming in blue lagoons. damn that whole money not growing on tree things!

now while i won't be having amazing adventures abroad, there are some fun things around new england that i'll be experiencing. here are a couple peaks ;)

little bit "the shining", but hello lover <3

yummm!

nice days aren't complete without a stroll down newbury

hope you all enjoy your break (if you're on spring break) and if not, enjoy your week anyway :)

oh em fiji

so i would consider myself pretty well versed in popular nail colors. some may say that my love of nail polish borders on obsessive... but i like to think of it as collecting. and come on, every girl needs various shades of all the colors in the rainbow ;)

i can spot Chanel Blue Satin, OPI You Don't Know Jaqcue, I'm Not Really a Waitress and Bubble Bath and Essie Ballet Slippers from a mile away. but i was introduced to a new gem just the other day by the lovely Michele (Michele1218 on Youtube). in her most recent video she was wearing the most perfect pale, nude pink and instantly fell in love. As much as i love crazy (mint candy apple is my all time favorite!) and dark colors, sometimes a so-light-it's-almost-white pink is just right. so, without further adieu, my new pale pink VIP...

please excuse the fat, baby hands. they're kind of ridiculous.

i cannot say enough good things about this nail polish! After watching the video, and falling in love with the color!, i want to two CVS's that carry essie nail polish and 2 nail salons and none of them had fiji. now this may sound kind of crazy, but once i want to paint my nails, i have to paint them. it's like sometime comes over me and i have to paint them- and this was definitely one of those times. 20 minutes, $15 and an amazing back massage later, my nails were pretty, painted and perfect.

if your looking for a light nail polish color that would be appropriote for work, or (ugh!) the transition from college to career, this color will totallly fit the bill. while sometimes pale colors can be tough to work with; forcing you to put on a million coats before it looks decent, this color took 2 coats and you were good to go.

well i'm going to go stare some more at my finger nails and stress about my lack of career aspects.

mini vacation

ahh. nothing like a couple days at home to make you feel like a whole new person!

i'm in the middle/almost done with midterms and have been stressed, cranky and just generally feeling crummy. i had no clean clothes, no groceries and was sick of looking at my apartment.
::cue brilliant idea from genius aunt!::
perfect time for a nice family visit. one of my aunts has always been like a second mother to me, and lives closer to me when i'm at school than my actual mother. after talking to her on the phone the other day, i realized just how much i missed her, my cousins and their house. so, i made plans to spend some qt with the fam.

going to their house is like a little vacation from reality. i have all my favorite foods cooked for me (a huge bonus when you're in college, don't buy groceries, etc.), my laundry clean and smelling extra special (even at home i use the same detergent/dryer sheets but it NEVER smells the same) and am always comfy cozy. besides being pampered :) it's also nice just to see my family and mellow out. the life of a 21 year old college student can get tiring- constantly feeling like you have to go out just so you don't waste the night, not wanting to leave early cause then you're a lame-o... you know.

but now i'm home, back in my own apartment, and while the mini-vacation was amazing and just what i needed, it's nice to just sit in my room and be. now my fridge is full of left-overs of the most amazing chicken cutlets you have ever tasted (literally- i challenge anyone to try and top these), closet is full of clean clothes and i'm ready to start the week.

Marissa
